FedEx Custom Critical Versus Panther Expediting Services

In this economic mess expediting services are the most sensitive part of economy. For you is more appropriate to have a look on to truck stops or rest areas; as log as there are trucks, and now a plenty, the economy is slow.

Expediting services, means, somebody have to move freight from "A" to "B" as soon as possible at minimum price. How is working? A broker have the load in his portfolio and is negotiating with the driver the prices, this means quite 20% from price is for this service. Next on line is "Driving Authority" (another 15% from price after broker expenses ), this will process the money and safety procedures, including insurances for freight. And have an eye all the time on freight, so the customer will know where is his load. This is the job function for FedEx Custom Critical and Panther Expediting Services. My job function as Leased Vehicle Operator is collect data and process paperwork, and, of course to found the shipper, take the freight and deliver to consignee at commercial speed (47 miles/hr at Panther and 45miles/hr at FedEx). Personal I'm team player, so for my truck commercial speed is 1000 miles/day and always available for driving authority.

If your car did not start in the morning, call a cab, and will be on time. Troy imagine communications tools (thanks Bell and Marconi) working for you and have a pale imagine of the expediting job.

First FedEx contact, few years ago, I've send and order for RFID tag's (friend ID using radar technology) in the United States. My Location at that time Europe, Romania, Cugir (this is in the middle of nowhere, AK47 was produced there and communist country keep secret this ) street so hidden that for visitors I give as orientation point my cherry tree, the biggest and oldest in the area. I was able to keep an eye on my tags until arrive in that country. At delivery time I was looking outside, and a driver come to me asking ... if my address is there! Late I've understand that FedEx have optimizing tools for directions, so the driver is avoiding left turns.

Panther is using Internet Map. And have started an GPS application on the devices.

Now what about the tools. Communication tools are the most expensive part of the business. You recognize easy professional drives, always have a working "hands free" device. Inside truck is a satellite communication tool. Panther have "paper free" working behavior, this means that driver have to scan documents, and logbooks are automatic generated by satellite device (driver have a black box recording all his position changes ) for every few minutes, this is annoying for every driver. Technological level - windows so you can communicate as you are using any laptop. FedEx is using same tolls at industrial level, this means open source software and Java applets interconnecting and integrating phone on to computerized system. Logbooks remain as is legal, on paper, so you have 15 minutes between status changes. OK, you have to send the paperwork by post. I've received a lot of inconsistent data at Panther, at FedEx I have no access at all to computerized system, this means that over the road rules of the competition are the same for all operators. For communications you have "messenger type" of behavior.

Advantages of Purchasing Truck or Dump Bodies From an After-Market Manufacturer

An after market manufacturer of truck and dump bodies starts with a chassis from a major manufacturer such as Ford or GM and then purchases and assembles body components from individual component manufacturers to create a totally custom truck for the customer.

Manufacturers of truck and dump bodies will discuss options for the functions you require, as well as the pros and cons of various body types. Close interaction with the truck body manufacturer can help you make an informed decision for creating a truck that will meet present and future requirements.

Purchasing a body from vendors who exclusively manufacture truck and dump bodies is always beneficial. They can provide custom shaped bodies for almost all your needs. Set up cost is lower for after market manufacturers, as they purchase components from smaller manufacturers and assemble on site.

The big advantage is you get exactly what you need to run your business. Whether it be the hydraulic lift capabilities on dump trucks and cranes or just the right setup for storage on utility trucks a custom design provides it all.

Companies sometimes purchase the chassis of a truck or dumper and have an aftermarket truck body manufacturer build multiple bodies with specific functions in mind. These companies then offer their vehicles to customers on a per hire basis where a job specific body is then loaded onto the chassis.

Purchasing a truck or dump body from a chassis manufacturer is more costly, as they have only readymade bodies. Chassis Manufacturers can not tailor make bodies; they lack the time and resources to meet individual requirements of every customer. The setup cost of a chassis manufacturer is very high, making the cost to the customer higher as well.

Good communication and planning up front with the after market manufacturer will ensure the body and entire truck is created to your exact specifications. Even if you don't quite know what you need, the aftermarket truck body manufacturers can give you great advice from the hundreds of customizations they have experience with. Should your needs change during the assembly process, after market manufacturers are very flexible, allowing you to make changes at different stages of construction.

So there you have it, just look up truck bodies, dump bodies, or crane trucks on the Internet to find an after market manufacturer in your region.

Tricking Your Truck Out with Nerf Bars or Step Bars

There is any number of ways to add a tough, custom look to your truck. Headache racks represent a good way to do that, while adding protection to your truck. Brush guards and grille guards can do that while offering increased off road protection. One very popular option, though, is to install nerf bars. You may be more familiar with them as step bars. Regardless of what you call them, they amount to the same thing; a metal bar with foot pads that mounts just behind the front tire and runs below the door of the truck. Why install these?

First, they make it much easier to get into a tall truck, for many people. Second, they provide protection to the bottom of the doors and front fenders (rocker panels) from tall rocks and other debris. Thirdly, the look that they provide is fantastic, whether you have a truck that really gets used off road, or simply a daily driver in town.

How do you decide which are right for your needs? There are a number of brands available, though many seem similar in appearance at first glance. There are two main styles from which you can choose when looking at nerf bars/step bars.

Short Nerf Bars: These nerf bars terminate just behind the door of the cab. They begin behind the front wheel and extend back only far enough that they can be used to get in and out of the cab. Usually, these are chromed steel, with rubber insets for footpads. Ordinarily, most brands have either a single long footpad or a pair of them, located side by side on the length of the bar.

Long Nerf Bars: These are an option popular with those who need to get into the bed of their trucks on a frequent basis. The mount in the front, just behind the front wheels and terminate just in front of the rear wheels. There are usually two long footpads or two pairs of short ones with this option. This style provides assistance getting into the cab, but also in getting into the bed of the truck.

There are several looks that can be achieved with nerf bars, as well. Straight nerf bars provide a rugged look, but bars that are flared, or curved, offer a dramatic difference. In addition to chrome, you can find powder coated black and stainless steel, as well. Powder coated nerf bars/step bars usually do not have as long a warranty as chrome bars, but they can be more easily painted when they get scratched. Stainless steel nerf bars offer a unique look that is not often seen on the road. The style you choose will ultimately be dictated by the overall look that you want for your truck.

The next thing that you will need to consider is the price of the bars, as well as the installation procedure. While these bars usually simply bolt to the underside of the truck without any need for drilling, some applications (non-brand specific) may require drilling.
